Job description

St John’s Foundation has been dedicated to supporting positive change in people’s lives for more than 800 years and is one of the UK’s oldest charities. St Michael’s Within, our beautiful Chapel in the centre of Bath, is open every day and people are welcome to come in for some quiet reflection, to say a prayer, or simply to have a look around. Although a Christian chapel by origins, we do welcome visitors of all faiths. Services are taken every Wednesday and Sunday morning, and also on Sunday mornings at our Combe Park site. Further services are taken throughout the year, for example at Christmas, Easter and on certain other feast days.

We are looking for a Chaplain (30 hours per week) who, in addition to planning and conducting services, will conduct Christenings, Weddings, Blessings and Baptisms. They will also provide spiritual and pastoral care to residents living in our almshouses, to staff and to our Trustees. Being an inclusive ministry, which encompasses residents with free church and Pentecostal backgrounds, tending towards evangelical, charismatic and less formal styles, the Chaplain will facilitate a more formal style, where this is appropriate.
