The boardroom in 4 Chapel Court
The day-to-day management of St John's Hospital and Bath Municipal Charities (BMC), is placed in the hands of the Chief Executive, who retains the traditional title of Clerk and Receiver, working closely with a Senior Management Team and over 60 members of staff.
The current Chief Executive, Jonathan O’Shea, reports directly to the incumbent Chairman of Trustees, Group Captain David Smith, OBE FinstAM.
The role of the Trustee
Trustees are appointed for an initial term of 5 years, which can be extended to a second or third term. There is however an expectation that Trustees will retire when they reach the age of 80 years, if that birthday falls within the term of their appointment.
